We are pathology faculty at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. We teach pathology to second year medical students. In addition, we are also practicing forensic pathologists, each triple-board certified in anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathology. Dr. Kemp is a native of Montana, and went to medical school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. He did his pathology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and fellowship training with the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Since fellowship, he was worked and taught in the states of Texas, Montana, and North Dakota. Dr. Hughes is a native of Texas, and went to medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He did his pathology residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, and fellowship training with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. Since fellowship, he has worked and taught in the states of Texas and North Dakota, to include service as a regional medical examiner for the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System. We have each held faculty appointments at two different medical schools, and have been recognized with multiple teaching awards – Dr. Kemp has received a year-end outstanding teacher award during each of his 6 years as a medical school faculty member. Teaching students has developed into our biggest passion.
